What is it?
Freedom Boat Club is an alternative to rentals & ownership that has been around since 1989. Since then, it has grown to over 55,000 members, 5,500+ boats, and 400+ locations. Instead of buying a boat, and locking yourself into one location with one boat, you get access to all of the club boats around the world! Locally, we have Tri-toons, Tri-toons with Waterslides, Zodiacs, Center Consoles, and Bow Riders. You will also have access to amenities like wakeboards, waterskis, life jackets, water tubes, tow ropes, water pads, stand-up paddle boards, and kayaks!The best part? You don't have to buy a B.O.A.T. (Bust Out Another Thousand). With Freedom, you also won't have any slip fees, storage fees, detailing fees, repair fees, maintenance fees, insurance fees, or registration fees. It's boat ownership without the cost or hassle.
How's it work?

Memberships that include reciprocal access: You will have the ability to use 4 reservations per location, per year, outside of your home locations.EXAMPLE: In the map below, you can see 5 separate locations. This would mean you have a total of 20 reservations to use (4 at each).
Frequently Asked Quesitons
How do I make a reservation?Reservations are made by using Freedom Boat Club's online reservation system. Any device that can connect to the internet will work!
What are the hours of operation?We are open from 9:30am to 30 minutes prior to sunset. Members can also be granted early departure access. This would allow for you to make a reservation at 6:30am or sunrise (whichever comes later). 48 hour notice is required for early departure
What are the reservation times?
9:30 am - 1:30 pm
9:30 am - 4:00 pm
2:30 pm - close
5:00 pm - close
To stack reservations, simply choose 2 time slots and use 2 or 3 reservations on the same day!Example: If you choose the 9:30 am - 1:30 pm slot & the 2:30 pm - close slot, you would have the boat from open to close!Note: All reservations Mon-Fri = 1 reservation. On Saturday & Sunday the 9:30 - 4:00 & 2:30 - close time slot = 2 reservations.
How many times can I boat?Members have unlimited access to boats, with 4 reservations to use at anytime. Pretend you use one (1) reservation to take a boat out on Friday of this week. Because you have four (4) reservations to use, you now have three (3) other reservations available to you. As soon as you take the boat out on Friday of this week and bring it back to the dock at the end of your reservation, that reservation is added back to your profile, and you now have four (4) reservations to use again.Rolling reservations allow you to boat an unlimited number of times at your local clubs (Grand Haven & Muskegon). Any location that is owned and operated by Freedom Boat Club of West Michigan is considered a home location. So, you would have unlimited access to any locations that we open in the future!
Will boats be available when I want to reserve them?The club maintains boat availability. If a club has 4 boats or 30, you will have the same access; Mon-Fri boats are usually available with little notice. We reccomend looking 3-5 days ahead of time for weekday reservations. For weekends, we recommend looking 5-10 days out, using your rolling reservations. Holiday weekends can sometimes require more planningMembers also enjoy spur-of-the-moment usage. Let's pretend you woke up today and wanted to boat. Even if you did not reserve a boat for today, you still may be able to get on the water. Put yourself on the waitlist, give the dock a call, ask if they have any boats available, and if one is open you are more than welcome to take it out. The best part of this perk is that it does NOT count as a reservation.
Do I need training?All members, no matter their experience level, are required to have a NASBLA-approved boating safety certificate. If you are unsure if your license/certificate is NASBLA-approved, send us a picture and we will let you know!Step 1 - If you have not completed a NASBLA-approved safety course, we will provide you with the Florida Boaters Safety Course. This course can be completed 100% online.Step 2 - After the completion of the safety course, we will send you a PowerPoint & quiz.Step 3 - Once you have completed both of the above steps, you will have the ability to schedule on-the-water training with one of our USCG-Certified Captains.After completion of the on-the-water training, you will gain access to the reservation system. All of the training can be completed in a week, or less, it just depends on how quickly you are able to complete steps 1 & 2!

All initiation fee's & monthly dues are subject to 6% Michigan State Sales Tax. These are month-to-month Agreements which allow for cancellation at anytime with a 90-day written notice.
